They swim to the bottom with enviable talent.
The majority of dogs like water and as soon as the weather improves a little, they splash into ponds, pools – or even huge puddles. But beyond the exhilaration of splashing around, few can say that they are not only above the water, but also exceptionally good divers. The dog in the video below could be in the running for the best diving dog; it’s incredible how deftly they move under the surface!
The Golden Retriever in the video is no great swimmer by accident. The breed, similar to the Labrador Retrievers has webbing between their toes. This makes it much easier for them to move in the water. However, there are some dogs that are particularly bad swimmers. Because of their build and size, water sports are not recommended for them. These are breeds like English Bulldogs, Greyhounds and Corgies, among many others.
