Although microchipping has been compulsory for years, many people forget to register or update their data. This is one of the reasons why Zeus ended up in the hatchery. The Hungarian dog was lucky to find his original owners, even if it was a roundabout way. A video was made of the big reunion, so they were happy to see each other after two years.
Tiszakécske Animal Husbandry Facility was looking for the owners or the family of an adopted dog on Facebook. The escaped dog had a chip, but the owner’s details were not updated, so they could not be contacted.
For years now, it has been mandatory for dogs to be microchipped with their owner’s details, but there are still many four-legged friends in Hungary who are unidentifiable without a chip. And in many cases, like Zeus, the dog’s family has arranged for the microchip to be inserted as required by law, but does not record the data or the change in the data.
This was the case with Zeus, who was recently found in Tiszakécske, but the staff at the pound had not anticipated the history of the dog who was picked up as a stray.
The online advertisement paid off. The news quickly spread to owners who had been looking for their lost dog for years.
Zeus disappeared in 2021. Why hadn’t he turned up until now, and why did he seem so well cared for? Zeus may have been adopted in the last two and a half years, but the temporary owner hasn’t checked his chip.
His original family also found him as a stray dog, raised with their children. When the family moved to Tiszakécske 2.5 years ago, Zeus ran away . Probably finding his new home difficult to adjust to. The owners have been searching for him ever since, but to no avail. A friend of theirs noticed the post of the kennel and sent it to them immediately, because the dog looked so much like Zeus.
The big meeting was caught on video. The joy was incredible:
