If you show your love this way, you’re only harming the dog

One of the most typical mistakes owners make is showing their love for their dogs in this way. It has many negative consequences.
To use a fashionable expression, there are different love languages. One is care and nurturing. However, if showing love to your dog constantly manifests in giving them tasty treats, it can be very harmful.
Unfortunately, obesity is not only a common issue for humans but also for pets. Excess weight sets the stage for many serious health problems, such as cardiovascular issues, joint problems, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, malignant tumors, and the list goes on.
In small and short-legged breeds, the risk of tracheal collapse increases, which can tragically result in complete tracheal collapse and suffocation. Excess weight also contributes to conditions such as intervertebral disc disease, commonly referred to as ‘dachshund paralysis.’ Due to their anatomy, these dogs require even more attention, and their already sensitive condition should not be worsened by adding extra weight. Unfortunately, despite good intentions, overfeeding actually shortens the animal’s life, which no responsible, loving pet owner would want.
With this in mind, it’s clear that you should not give those few bites from your dinner, and you must strictly count the number of treats!
Instead of sharing food during meals, show your love for your four-legged friend through play, walks, and petting. Make sure to include the treats in your dog’s daily caloric intake to prevent them from storing excess weight.
Another great idea is to enroll in a dog training class. It can be a fun activity for both of you, and you’ll learn many new and useful things.
